Therapy for Depression

Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially during unexpected changes. Sometimes we’re surprised by our triggers, leaving us feeling guilty, angry or scared about our reactions. We can revert to old ways of thinking and get stuck in thought patterns that take a toll on our wellbeing. We may play out old stories or relationship patterns and feel confused about our emotional “stuff”.

Some common signs of depression that clients describe are: physical sluggishness/fatigue, a sense of uselessness at home or work, changes in sleep, irritability, forgetfulness or an overall lack of interest in things they used to enjoy.

The most common symptom is repeated thoughts of unworthiness. Basically, they feel like they are sucking at life right now (which isn’t true!).

Depression symptoms can happen in the context of being overloaded with both work and family responsibilities. Whether it’s trying to adapt to changes in relationships, new parenting responsibilities, caring for elderly family members or being diagnosed with a new medical condition, sometimes we’re maxed out with what we can adapt to all at once. Our mind and body have ways of reacting that give us information but sometimes it’s hard to understand what that information even is. We can have a mix of thoughts and feelings that don’t make sense to us.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE
